Traditional and Modern Nantucket Baskets

Nathan Taylor faithfully carries on the basket making traditions started by mariners in the nineteenth century aboard Nantucket Island's lightships. Offered here are traditional and today's unique contemporary designs for decorative collectibles which include miniatures and purses. They are woven in China so that they become affordable to most anyone. Our Nantuckets are woven with highest-grade rattan cane. All traditions are maintained in the making of these baskets including the highest quality of workmanship. We make all our bases, rims, handles and cap lids in American Ash or Cherry woods. The baskets are finished off with brass pins and multiple coats of lacquer. They are then dressed with the world’s finest hand turned bone knobs and accessories.
